id277Patriarch is one of the oldest and most common names for
bishops. Today this term is reserved for pastors occupying the post of the high priest. The supreme patriarch of the Armenian Church is the Catholicos of All Armenians residing in the Holy See of Echmiadzin. Other patriarchs in the hierarchy of the Armenian Church are the Catholicos of Cilicia and the high priests of Jerusalem and Constantinople. Distinguishing features of patriarchal vestments are Mace and Eagle, signifying the greatness of this spiritual dignity.
